Driver’s Education Requirements for Students Under 18:

To meet Wisconsin’s minimum requirements, students under the age of 18 must complete the following:

1. Classroom Instruction:
   • 30 hours of classroom instruction.
2. Behind-the-Wheel Training:
   • 12 hours, comprising 6 hours of driving and 6 hours of observing another student driving.

Options at Bestway Driving Academy:

Bestway Driving Academy offers flexible options for the classroom portion:

• All Online Option:
  • Complete the entire 30 hours of classroom instruction online.
• Hybrid Option:
  • Attend four 2-hour classes in person.
  • Complete the remaining 22 hours of classroom instruction online.

Bestway Driving Academy Online Classroom Options:

1. Entire 30 Hours Online:
   • Bestway Driving Academy is licensed to offer the entire 30 hours of online classroom. Click here to register.
2. Hybrid Option (In-Person + Online):
   • Choose the Hybrid Option to attend a portion in person and complete the remaining 22 hours online.
   • Use the online registration link on our website under the location of your choice.
3. Registration and Questions:

   • After registering, you will receive an email from our partners, Teach Safe, to confirm registration and set up a username and password.
4. Flexible Online Learning:
   • Fulfills the State of Wisconsin requirement, necessary for students under 18.
   • Take the class from your own home, at your own pace, making it ideal for busy schedules.
5. Payment and Approval:
   • Once we receive payment, you’ll be approved for the online classroom.
   • Approval usually takes up to 24 hours (next business day).
6. Online Classroom Guidelines:
   • Work on the online classroom for a maximum of 2 hours per day.
   • Each lesson has a specified time length for credit.
7. Temp’s Test Options:
   • Temp’s tests can be taken before or after completing the online portion if registered for classroom and behind the wheel with us.
   • Options for taking the temps test include going to the DMV or taking the test at Bestway Driving Academy during an in-person class.
   • If you are 15, you may go to the DMV with your signed MV3001 form to take the tests there.
   • If over 18, the tests must be taken at the DMV.
8. Scheduling Driving Lessons:
   • Inform us once you receive your temps.
   • Schedule and complete your first driving lesson within 60 days using our online scheduling app schedule2drive.com
9. Important Note:
   • Do not work on the online classroom on the same day as your driving lesson.

Flexible Payment Options at Bestway Driving Academy:

1. Payment Methods:
   • We accept cash, checks, and credit cards for payment.
2. Flexible Payment Plan:
   • We understand that financial situations vary for families and students.
3. Preferred Payment:
   • While we prefer the entire amount to be paid upfront, we recognize this may not be feasible for everyone.
4. Flexible Payment Options:
   • You can pay ½ the amount initially and the other ½ before starting behind the wheel.
5. Customized Payment Plans:
   • If you need a different arrangement, feel free to ask.
   • Email us your payment plan, and we will make a note on our end.
6. Weekly Payments Option:
   • Some students paying for drivers ed themselves make weekly payments.
   • Let us know your plan, and we will accommodate it.
7. Minimum Requirement:
   • At a minimum, we need at least half of the balance paid before signing your temp’s application.
8. Open Communication:
   • Don’t hesitate to ask if you need assistance or have specific payment needs.

Students can schedule their road test 11 weeks before they are able to take it. You do not need to have driver’s ed completed to schedule your road test.  You just need to have anything completed by the time you show up to take the test.  The easiest way to schedule a road test is to do so on the DMV’s website http://www.dot.state.wi.us/drivers/drivers/schedule.htm

If enrollment in a classroom session is low, we reserve the right to cancel the session. We will do our best to place students in another session that is convenient for them. Students will also be given the option to take the classroom portion online.

CANCEL/NO SHOW FEES: Life happens, and we get it – stomachaches, fevers, earaches, and more. Regardless of the reason, we incur costs when cancellations occur within 24 hours. It’s not about fault; it’s about the ripple effect. A $35 fee helps cover our instructors’ time and the adjustments we need to make. When you don’t show up or cancel last minute, it affects all of us, as we hustle to rearrange schedules for our instructors and other students. Please be respectful.

If you need to cancel with more than 24 hours, you won’t be charged. Feel free to go onto Schedule2Drive to manage your appointments – no need to contact us with a reason.

Class Attendance Policy:

1. Regular Classes:
   • Students must attend all 30 hours of classroom instruction.
2. Hybrid Classes:
   • Attendance at ALL classes is mandatory for hybrid sessions.
   • Missing a class requires us to find an alternative class for you to attend.
3. Tardy Policy:
   • To fulfill the 30-hour requirement, punctuality is crucial.
   • Being late disrupts the class, reducing your total class time.
   • Please plan to be on time for all classes to meet the attendance requirement.

Inclement Weather Policy:

Classroom Sessions:

• If local schools cancel due to inclement weather, our classroom session in the same city will also be canceled.
• Updates on class cancellations will be posted on Facebook.
• In cases where the instructor can’t reach the class due to weather, we’ll attempt a replacement but may need to cancel.

Driving Lessons:

• Decisions to cancel driving lessons due to weather are often made on the day or a few hours before the lesson.
• If hazardous conditions are predicted, lessons may be canceled.
• We will not cancel for snow flurries but will cancel for warnings.
• Students will be notified via text or call about canceled driving lessons, and updates will be posted on Facebook.
• Note: During winter, delays may occur. If more than 15 minutes behind schedule, we’ll send a text notification. Safety is our priority, and your patience is appreciated.
• Additional Note: We are not affiliated with a specific school district, so school cancellations do not always dictate our behind-the-wheel lesson cancellations. Our decision is based on current conditions, warnings, and common sense. Sometimes, schools close, but roads are fine by noon.

**Note** Be aware that during the winter we will sometimes run behind schedule. Even if the roads seem fine in town, they may often be poor in the country. If we are going to be running more than 15 minutes late, we will text you to let you know. Please be patient, we try to keep on schedule but the safety of our instructors and students is more important than arriving to your lesson on time.

Refund Policy:

This school will not refund any fees or part of fees if the school is ready, willing, and able to fulfill its part of the agreement. If a refund is offered, there is a $50 refund processing fee that will be assessed.

Fee Details and Transfers:

Classroom-only cost: $149.00

• We will provide the necessary paperwork for transferring to another school for behind-the-wheel instruction.
• To facilitate the transfer, we will need the contact information of the school you are transferring to, and we will send them your completion records.

Behind-the-wheel only cost: $349.00

• Proof of classroom completion from another school is required, and we will provide the necessary paperwork.

Failure to Yield the Right of Way Course:

We offer a two-hour Failure to Yield the Right of Way course that satisfies all state requirements. These sessions are scheduled monthly or based on our availability. To set up a session, please contact us by phone at 920-887-7727 or by email at info@bestwaydrivingschool.net.
